When: Saturday, July 5 • Where: Café Maude • Who: Michael Lewis, saxophone; Adam Linz, bass; J.T. Bates, drums
It’s Fourth of July weekend, the cities have emptied out, and one of my favorite groups is playing at Maude. We make a reservation so we’re sure of getting a table, always a good idea at a restaurant that can get very crowded.
We hear originals, standards (a gorgeous “Tenderly,” something by Monk) and a song by the Shaggs.
I haven’t thought of the Wiggins sisters for a long time, probably all for the better, but it’s fun to hear what FKW makes of their music, if that’s what you want to call it.

Read about the Shaggs here and here. Listen if you dare to “My Pal Foot Foot.”
Visit FKW’s MySpace page and enjoy.
